Foreigner in Indonesia

Indonesia is a country with big number of people. Indonesian are friendly and respect each other, although there are many ethnic groups in Indonesia. Another factor that make Indonesia special is this country has tropical climate, so that is why Indonesia has beautiful nature. This beautiful nature usually is exploited by Indonesian as a tour place. There are many tour places in Indonesia that is beautiful as another tour places overseas. Indonesia also has many cultures. These cultures has many various of kinds that are unique and special. Some of these factors make foreigners become interested in visiting Indonesia. Beside that, other foreigners are interested to start a life in Indonesia, too. Because some of those factors make them happy and comfortabke to live in Indonesia.

But, every decision that we make also has influence, too. Some are bad influences, and some are good influences. Foreigners who decide to live in Indonesia often face some problems. One of them is in the difference of language that is used by Indonesian and the foreigner. As we know, English the unifier language between Indonesian and foreigner. But, rarely Indonesian who can speak English, that is so for the foreigner. Foreigners are difficult in understanding Indonesian language because they do not used to it. This problem makes some misunderstandings between the foreigner and indonesian. Beside that problem, there is also another problem that is faced by the foreigners who decide to live in Indonesia, like the difference between Indonesia’s culture and culture in another country. The example is in the way how the foreigner and the indonesian are dressed. The foreigner tend to have some sexy looks by the way they dressed. This is not the same as Indonesian because it is opposed with some standards in Indonesia. Foreigners also have different habit with Indonesian. The foreigners used to be alcoholic. In Indonesia, it is prohibited to drink alcohol, while in their country it is such a common activity to do. Another problem is the foreigner often get some discrimination acts from Indonesian. The example is when they are shopping in traditional market. The price that Indonesian seller gives to foreigner is higher than the price that they give to other Indonesian buyer. Another example is the ticket that is sold to foreigner in some tour places. The ticket seller give a higher price for the foreigner.

Although there are many difficulties that the foreigners must face when they decide to live in Indonesia, but they still try to get used to Indonesia’s atmosphere. It is usually because they have fallen in love with Indonesia. Then, they usually change their citizenship to be Indonesia’s citizenship. When they do it, they usually have able to speak in Indonesian local languages, like Javanese language.

The sad fact is foreigners love Indonesia more than Indonesian itself. The Indonesian usually loves western culture than their cultures. It is because, based on their opinion, western cultures are more modern than Indonesia culture. It causes some Indonesian move their citizenship to other country.
